A staircase leads to the casino upstairs and the vibe is chill and club-like with bright lights and high chairs. Well before Seven Seas Explorer launched in July 2016, Regent Seven Seas was calling it the "Most Luxurious Ship Ever Built." That is a bold statement when it comes to ultra-luxury cruising. In many ways, the ship lives up to the billing, with extraordinary features and tiny details that will make even the most discerning passenger exceptionally happy. On more than one occasion, I ventured to Coffee Connection, the onboard cafe, for a cuppa (try the gingerbread cappuccino), and every table was full.
Regent Seven Seas Review
I would not hesitate to recommend this cruise line the only thing I would suggest is that you book directly with Regent as dealing with their own cruise consultants is so much easier than going through an agent. Regent Seven Seas Cruises are filled with daytime activities and evening entertainment for their guests to experience on-board. The cruise line allows their guests to participate in an engaging enrichment program with The Smithsonian Collection by Smithsonian Journeys. There are also relaxing activities offered on-board through their heated resort pool or by Canyon Ranch SpaClub that gives passengers the privilege to pamper their selves. Regent’s personable and well-trained crew members are up to the task of matching the upscale ambience of its ships.
Seven Seas Explorer Review
It is designed with a walk-in closet, a crystal chandelier, a personal butler, personalized stationery, and a full bar setup. That means skirts or slacks with blouses or sweaters, pant suits or dresses for ladies; slacks and collared shirts for men. Jeans, T-shirts, baseball caps, shorts and sneakers aren't appropriate in any public space after 6 p.m. Cruises of 16 nights or more will include two optional formal nights, where women might wear evening or cocktail gowns or formal pants suits; men might wear tuxes or suits.

Elegant casual dress still is appropriate even on formal nights. Cruises of 15 nights or less don't feature formal nights. Although I didn't have a butler on my sailing, my 332-square-foot Concierge Suite — which included a 132-square-foot balcony — was so well appointed it felt like the type of cabin that would come with a personal attendant on other cruise lines.
There are always the “out of touch with reality complainers”(which I discount). And the overly positive cheerleaders (which I also discount). But sometimes there is a lot of value in reading constructive reviews that point out honest feedback pointing out opportunities for improvement. Like Rachel G, I probably should have been more proactive and submitted a formal review of my one and only previous Regent cruise. However, it was to the Caribbean in late February, and weather was not an issue. Most recent negative reviews were to Alaska, where weather can cause port tendering complications...not Regent's fault.
There is shuffleboard, paddleboard tennis, table tennis, board games, and jigsaw puzzles. There is a swimming pool on deck and three Jacuzzis, but no lifeguards. There is no specific activity for children as most of the guests on the cruise are over 50. COVID-19 vaccinations or negative test results are not mandatory, but they are encouraged. Guests are required to fill out a health questionnaire before embarking the ship.
To begin with, the cabins -- they're all suites -- are beautifully designed and feature some of the largest balconies in the industry. (Balcony sizes range from 55 to 994 square feet.) At the very top is the Regent Suite, a two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom cabin that is so indulgent and well-appointed, passengers staying there might never want to leave. I found the stunning Observation Lounge on Deck 11 to be fairly quiet during the daytime, especially on port days. It was easy to snag a table by one of the sweeping windows so I could enjoy the view.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises also offers unlimited shore excursions and different activities for its travel vacation experience. The two-level Constellation Theater (decks 4 and 5) lives up to its name with gleaming miniature dome lights illuminated against a backdrop of sapphire blue and polished wood banquette-style seats. For all its polished sophistication, the ship’s entertainment is refreshingly down-to-earth and unstuffy. There’s nothing cutting-edge about it, but that’s what Regent passengers seem to love.

After each port visit, health screenings are automatically done. However, if there are cases of COVID-19, crew will mask up and limit social interaction with guests, depending on the severity of the situation, and sanitization procedures may increase. After dinner, Stars Lounge brings guests to the dance floor with live music, karaoke, and late-night jukebox.
There are two boutiques on board if you want to shop duty-free or get a couple of essentials. All restaurants and meals (including specialty restaurants) are included in the price. Compass Rose is the flagship restaurant and it’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner a la carte. There are specials every day and destination dishes are must-try; vegetarian dishes are available, too.
Passengers in Concierge-level suites or above receive an included hotel night and transfers prior to the cruise. The spacious cabins are all ocean-facing, with balconies, and the ship carries a large number of even bigger (and very popular) premium suites. Weight loss meal delivery services are revolutionizing the way people approach dieting. We sometimes offer premium or additional placements on our website and in our marketing materials to our advertising partners.
We loved our experience and give Regent Seven Seas Cruises our highest praise and recommendation. The Splendor is the second of Regent’s Explorer-class ships which Regent describes as the most luxurious ships ever built. If you take a few minutes to watch the above video, I’m confident you will find their claim justified.
Every stateroom has a steward/stewardess and housekeeping happens twice a day. They take care of the details—I asked for extra glasses and bowls in room to soak almonds and fenugreek seeds and I didn’t have to tell them again. Ice bucket was replaced in the morning and at turndown, and my coffee flask was cleaned every day after I made a request once. All restaurants will be able to accommodate your allergies—just talk to the maitre’d or the chef. Order room service; you can get anything from Compass Rose or pick from the in-room dining menu. The staterooms are designed with the cruise line’s demographics in mind.
Smaller-scale piano performances and the like also take place nightly in bars and lounges throughout the ship. On the sports deck you’ll also find a pickleball court, ping pong table, shuffleboard, putting green, and netted driving range bay. The quality of the poolside food is worth writing home about because it's as good as or better than the food you'd find in the main dining rooms on most other cruise lines' ships.
I've thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed all the Live reviews. To be honest, I didn't even think of looking at the reviews. I think I've just become accustomed to Live reviews and they have become my go-to for the cruise lines I'm interested in. They’ll know your name, your drink preferences, and your allergies when you step inside a restaurant or bar. Crew is friendly and goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable.
